Environmental Component of the project Sustainability in the Textile and Leather Sector in Bangladesh (GIZ STILE)

  1. Worked on strengthening the capacity of public and private sector actors to better exercise their mandates and responsibilities to ensure compliance with social and environmental standards in the textile and leather industry in Bangladesh;
  2. Worked to improve the prerequisites for the regulatory and organizational performance of selected public institutions in the area of the environment. The measures focused on strengthening Bangladesh’s Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change’s (MoEFCC) as well as the country’s environmental protection agency’s (Department of Environment, DoE) regulatory and enforcement capacity;
  3. Developed and implemented awareness-raising regarding social and environmental sustainability and pandemic preparedness measures in the textile and leather clusters;
  4. Monitoring and evaluating workers’ activities in advocating to increase compliance with social and environmental standards in their working and living environment.

We study the impacts of the climate crisis and develop measures to deal with associated risks and opportunities. We offer municipalities, businesses and governments concrete strategies and decision-making systems to help them.
