Philip Proctor, former Managing Director and Director of Engineering at Reed Consultancy Bangladesh. He was formerly the Safety, Health and Environment Advisor at DuPont Teijin Films (UK) Ltd and a European electrical safety professional for DuPont EMEA.
Philip has spent over 37 years of experience in high-hazard industries with expertise including electrical engineering, environmental and energy auditing, occupational health and safety, fire safety and accident investigation.
Fiona Stevenson brings unique cross-cultural, cross-disciplinary experience covering business, leadership, management, technology, organisational development, financial management and personal development. With over 27 years of senior management and leadership experience in various roles, Fiona has managed large teams, and complex projects and experienced the demands faced by leaders operating in a dynamic environment. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, holds an MSc. from Cass Business School in London and is a member of the International Coach Federation.
Nadira Begum has been working for over 24 years on social compliance, human resources and administration within the manufacturing, supply chain, and consultancy sectors. In her career journey, she worked on coordinating project activities and operations, securing efficiency and compliance with project policies, conducting factory inspections, grievance handling, dispute resolution, building awareness campaigns and providing training. She worked on projects funded by various clients such as GIZ, BEPZA, BOI, PC, BSCIC and BICF, in institutional strengthening, social management and promotion of sustainability in the textile and leather sector in Bangladesh.
With a solid background in social compliance, she has relevant certifications and/or training in C3-based social and environmental standards and moderation techniques, social compliance and accountability, HRD, worker rights and laws, disciplinary procedure and productivity. She has completed her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Botany from the University of Chittagong and her Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institution of Personal Management.
Anwarul Islam has been working for over 16 years on environmental sustainability and chemical management within the manufacturing, supply chain, and consultancy sectors. In his career journey, he worked on various projects funded by various clients such as IFC (International Finance Corporation), GIZ (German Corporation for International Cooperation GmbH), BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers, and Exporters Association), NIKE, PUMA, Carrefour, Tchibo GmbH. He is passionate about the sustainability of environment and resources management through a circular economy approach where possible.
With a solid background in chemical engineering and technology, he is a certified auditor of Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001. He has completed his M.Phil in Chemical Engineering from the James Cook University, Australia and a BSc & MSc in Applied Chemistry and Chemical technology from the Universuty of Rajshahi.
He has successfully completed several projects with substantial financial saving through energy, water, and waste minimisation, and efficient chemical management in the manufacturing units in line with GHS and REACH guidelines for EU brands sourcing from South Asia. Being a professional trainer of wastewater treatment plant operation and basic Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001, he trained more than 500 ground level and mid-level management staffs across the industries.
Md. Ashraf is a Textile Engineer from Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) and working as Engineer- Sustainability for Reed Consultancy Bangladesh. His focus is on Industrial ecology, circular economy, life cycle assessment, sustainable consumption and production, chemical management, water efficiency in textile production and environmental management plan. Mr Ashraf has completed IRCA certified lead auditor course on on 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems, Life Cycle Assessment by Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and the Certified Supply Chain Analyst course by ISCEA. Besides, he is a certified trainer on chemical management by GIZ and certified trainer on climate action for the fashion industry by UNFCCC and GIZ.
Md. Ashraf is currently on his study leave to pursue his Master’s in Environmental Science at Yale University, USA.
Md. Akhtarujjaman is a Textile Engineer from Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) and works as a Decarbonization and Resource Efficiency Engineer at Reed Consultancy, Bangladesh. With his bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, he focuses on resource-efficient textile production in terms of water, energy, and chemicals, Decarbonization, process optimization, and capacity development. He previously worked as an Engineer-Sustainability with practical knowledge on environmental impact assessment, cleaner production, chemical and waste management, project management, and environmental management plan.
He has training on GRI standards reporting, ToT on water, ETP operators training and waste management, Training on Higg FEM 3.0, Business and Human rights, Climate Action, Foundational Sustainability Skills & Competencies, Sustainable Chemical and Environmental Management, Hazardous Waste Management, Advanced MS Excel, Textile Testing for Quality Assurance, Data Analysis with SPSS, Initiating and Planning Project, and Product Development.
Worked on key projects including the WaSaTex water-saving program, PIE, ETP operator training, RMG sector upscaling policy research, apparel automation study, and advanced chemical management initiatives across 100+ factories. He has expertise in report writing, research and analysis, auditing, and factory visits.
Published analytical articles in Textile Today, contributed to international research on eco-friendly dyeing and 3D printing in textiles, authored a book chapter on Sustainable coloration of Textiles, and engaged in policy-focused and sustainability-related research for the RMG sector.
Kazi Farhan Hossain Purba is a textile engineer and a sustainability enthusiast with demonstrated experience in the field of technical and creative writing, researching, and problem-solving. He started his writing career in a national daily as a 12-year-old, immersed himself in writing for Kaler Kantho, Samakal, Ajker Patrika, and Daily Sun, and is currently working at Reed Consultancy, Bangladesh as Engineer – Sustainability.
Trained in Chemical management by the course offered by GIZ and BUTEX, he has worked with Reed Consultancy, Bangladesh in various projects including GIZ’s PIE, ZDHC Chemical Mapping, developing chemical and waste management modules, exercises, and solutions for GGGI, GIZ, The Institute of Distance Learning at Beuth University of Applied Sciences, visiting and generating reports for Guldenpfennig’s (GP) Advanced Chemical Management Training conducted on 5 Bangladeshi factories, etc. He has also served as an International Trainer for CGTI ToT training programme to train 11 Cambodian CGTI professionals on chemical and waste management. As a translator, he has translated 38,349 words from English to Bengali of the Training Program for Operators of Effluent Treatment Plants in Textile Factories, an endeavor of GIZ-FABRIC. Moreover, he was involved in translating more than 60% of the National Chemical Management Guidelines for the Textile and Garment Industry in Bangladesh from English to Bengali, redrawing the figures, and proofreading.
He has also worked in Textile Today as a Research Executive and contributed more than 100 articles till date about textile, fashion, the latest innovations in textiles, etc. and have visited more than 30 factories for interviewing the top management. He also has three research projects- one with DYSIN-CHEM Ltd about ‘creating interactive merged MRSL and RSL’, the second one with Robintex Group about printing, which have been published in Textile Today. His third project was with Experience Textile Ltd. about woven dyeing project on RFT% improvement. He also has a keen interest in writing and research works. Since the early beginning of his writing career as a 12-year-old in Jugantor, he has been working with Kaler Kantho, Samakal, Ajker Patrika, The Daily Sun and various other national dailies and online portals as a freelance writer. Within a span of more than 7 years, he has contributed 350+ articles and stories about science and technology, study-aids and numerous interviews of prominent people.
Kazi Purba accomplished his BSc. in Textile Engineering (Fashion and Design) degree from Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX), one of the premier textile universities in South Asia. He also shares the pride of studying in St. Gregory’s High School and College as a Gregorian with Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen, Tajuddin Ahmad, Dr. Kamal Hossain, Syed Nazrul Islam, Dr. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, etc. world-renowned nation builders.
In his leisure, Kazi Purba runs a fashion platform called Fashionnovation and keeps his passion for fashion alive by editing and publishing fashion and sustainability-related articles in Fashionnovation website. He believes in creating an equal chance for all fashion students, designers, indie brands, and fashionistas to showcase their works to the world and thus his founded platform is becoming a global network used by people of 165+ countries worldwide. He also finds pleasure in mentoring and nurturing his university juniors. He reads a lot of books and watches constructive videos. He loves to connect the dots and believes all that he does meets a certain point. He is also a firm believer in Paolo Coelho’s quote- “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
With 2 years of professional experience in the textile sector, Md. Sakib Al Montasir is actively engaged in sustainability, circularity, water and energy-based resource efficiency, process optimization, chemical management, factory audits, and report writing. He is currently working as a Sustainability and Circularity Engineer at Reed Consultancy Bangladesh.
He is certified by GIZ, UNIDO, Circle Economy, and BUTEX in areas such as water saving, chemical management, circular economy, and climate action. Sakib contributed to reducing water consumption by an average of 30% through process modification, validation report writing, and preparation of 21 case studies in 50 factories under GIZ’s WaSaTex project.
Furthermore, he has organized and reported on academia-industry sessions on green jobs, job matching, women empowerment, and mentorship in Bangladesh for the HELD Project by GIZ. He also led data collection efforts for two RECP projects—Digital Product Passport and the Employment Study on people involved with textile waste management—covering more than 40 factories and 10 industrial clusters across the country in collaboration with UNIDO and Circle Economy.
In addition to his project work, Sakib has coordinated with key industry bodies including BGMEA, BKMEA, BTGWPEA, and the SME Foundation. He has also published articles and book chapters on antimicrobial and UV-resistant fabrics made from recycled textile substrates, sustainable dyeing machines and processes, and the thrifting behavior of female Gen Z consumers in Bangladesh.
Md. Shariful Islam Akash is a Climate Action and Knowledge Development Associate at Reed Consultancy Bangladesh. He has hands-on experience in sustainability, chemical management, upcycling, the circular economy, and optimizing water and energy use, all aimed at reducing climate impact in the textile industry. Akash has actively participated in factory visits, audits, policy reviews, data collection, and validation across multiple projects.
He has worked on the GIZ and H&M WaSaTex project, where he conducted energy audits and process optimization in 30+ textile factories. Additionally, he supported the UNIDO Digital Product Passport survey across 10+ factories and contributed to the SWITCH2CE Employability Study for circular manufacturing in collaboration with Circle Economy and UNIDO.
Akash also took part in the translation and drafting of Chemical Management rules and TSDF rules in the STILE II project. Furthermore, he has experience assisting in training sessions, notetaking, and preparing project documentation, demonstrating strong capabilities in both technical and coordination roles.
Md. Mahmudul Hasan is an experienced Admin and Accounts professional with practical expertise in managing office administration, supporting HR functions, and handling finance-related tasks within Reed Consultancy. He has successfully overseen day-to-day administrative operations, ensuring smooth interdepartmental coordination and efficient client communication.
His financial responsibilities include maintaining account records, preparing detailed Excel-based financial reports, and managing VAT and TAX filing procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements. Mahmudul is skilled in financial monitoring, document management, and preparing timely reports to support decision-making processes.
His work reflects a strong ability to collaborate within teams, maintain organizational accuracy, and ensure accountability in financial transactions. Additionally, he is keen on expanding his skills through freelancing and digital work platforms, showing adaptability and a proactive approach to career development.
Dr Mohammad Abbas Uddin (Shiyak) has over 21 years of experience in textile and garment production, academic research and environmental consultancy. He has been an active voice for sustainable growth of the textile and leather industry, with a view that environment should be a top priority.
Dr Uddin leads and is responsible for RCB projects for German Development Agency (GIZ) Dhaka, International Finance Corporation (IFC) – The World Bank, Canadian High Commission, Dhaka, British High Commission Dhaka, The Nordic Chamber of Commerce Dhaka etc. He worked as an expert for GIZ Promotion of Social and Environmental standards (PSES II) on sludge management and co-authored a book titled ‘Manual for Sludge Management in Bangladesh Textile Sector’. He also worked as dyehouse expert for ‘IFC-Partnership for Cleaner Textile’ project; is a recognised environmental consultant for ‘Business Environmental Performance Initiative (BEPI) – Foreign Trade Association’ and local environmental consultant for Enclude, Netherlands to implement ‘social and environmental management systems’ at Southeast Bank Ltd for global climate partnership fund, Switzerland.
He is certified trainer for ‘Sludge Management on Textile’ for giz and ‘Dyehouse Management’ by Textile Institute UK. He trained representatives from more than 100 textile factories, 20 government officials from Department of Environment (DoE), brand representatives and service providers. He is an Associate Editor for Bangladesh Textile Today magazine and speaker and panelist in local and international seminar/workshop/conference.
Dr Uddin is also working as an Asst. Prof. of Dept. of Dyes and Chemical Engineering in Bangladesh University of Textiles. He has completed his PhD from the University of Manchester, UK under Commonwealth Scholarship and an MBA from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. He is also a Chartered fellow of Textile Institute UK.
Md Abul Kalam Azad is a textile engineer and a sustainability enthusiast with a demonstrated history of diverse set of experiences in both industry and academia.
In the year 2022, Md. Abul Kalam Azad started working as a Lecturer in the department of Dyes and Chemical Engineering, Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX). He holds a Master’s degree in Textile Science and Engineering from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom and is a very passionate teacher.
Mr. Azad has more than 10 years of experience working in the textile sector. He was a project manager at Decathlon, a French sports retailer, in charge of sourcing sustainable materials. He has a depth of experience in the manufacturing of textile materials, polymer technology, and the application of various chemicals and dyes. He is also an expert in laboratory setup, environment impact analysis, and project management. Mr. Azad is a specialist on textile wet processing and has extensive knowledge in medical textile, geotextile, nanotechnology, and textile composites. Mr. Azad is skilled in negotiation, product development, fashion, programme and project management. He is an international trainer with demonstrated history of training of trainers where Chemical and Waste Management training to CGTI (Cambodian Garment Training Institute) Trainers is his latest.
Mr. Azad’s fields of interest include but are not limited to: eco friendly Dyes and Chemical synthesis, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) & Techno Economic Assessment (TEA) of newly invented dyes and chemicals for Textile application, Emission Inventory and Environmental, Social Governance (ESG), Biotechnology & Nano technology for Textile application, Textile fiber reinforced composites, Textile Wet Process development, Textile Testing and Quality control, Textile waste & Resource management.
Mr. Azad has an excellent academic background. He received a First Class Msc in Textile Technology (Technical Textiles) degree from the University of Manchester in UK. His thesis advisor was Dr. Constantinos Soutis, Professor of Aerospace Engineering and Director of the Aerospace Research Institute at the University of Manchester. His thesis was titled “Analysis of Compressive Behavior of 3D Woven Carbon-Fiber Reinforced (IM7/Epoxy) Polymer Composites Used in Aerospace.” He earned his BSc in Textile Technology (Wet Processing) from Bangladesh University of Textiles in 2011 with honors. Additionally, he completed his secondary and higher secondary education at Jhenaidah Cadet College, a prestigious and top-notch educational institution in Bangladesh run by the Bangladesh Army.
Mr K.M. Abdun Noor has been working for about 14 years in RMG sector with a very good track record. He was the assistant general manager of GMS Composite Knitting Industry (Dyeing unit) and has successfully implemented the Green Project WST of LIDL and AFA (ALDI Factory Advancement) Project at Wisteria Textiles Ltd.
With a background of Textile Engineering from Bangladesh University of Textiles, he has excellent expertise on ZDHC, DETOX, GOTS & OCS, GRS & RCS, ECO-Label, STEP and LEED Certification to ensure sustainable textile production. Mr. Noor has been involved in the field of textile management with various reputed retail brands and buying houses across Europe and USA such as H&M, Walmart, Jack & Jones, Esprit, Diesel, Champion, Tchibo, Zara Inditex and so on.
Mr. Noor is currently serving for RCB as the consultant for GIZ fabric project.
